Washington Heights and Inwood have been booming with trendy lounges and restaurants, and now the neighborhood’s most popular strip has its first sports bar.

Uptown Social, located on the bustling Dyckman St. strip at Vermilyea Ave., is the newest addition to a block that has become synonymous with food offerings and nightlife. Sports fans can now add a place to catch Yankee games — and a host of others — to the list.

“It’s the only sports bar on Dyckman…When we had a Knicks game, it was chaos,” said Yamil Martinez, the designer, concept creator and partner of the gastropub. “You don’t have to go downtown to have a drink…We have a great feeling here.”

Martinez, 30, grew up in Washington Heights and remembers when there was “nothing” in the neighborhood but fast food joints, 99-cent shops and cheap clothing stores.

Now, he’s pleased to see the area continue to evolve with numerous trendy restaurants and lounges. And he’s been a key part of many of them.
